By Rail
From Cardiff City Centre to the University:
From the city you can take the Valley Lines train to Trefforest Station, which is near to the University. Trains run approximately every 15 minutes and generally leave from platform 6, heading for either Treherbert, Merthyr Tydfil or Aberdare. Make sure you get off at Trefforest station not Trefforest Industrial Estate. The University is adjacent to the rail station.
Here’s the train route:
Cardiff Central > Cardiff Queen Street > Cathays > Llandaff > Radyr > Taffs Well > Treforest Industrial Estate > Treforest
From Gatwick and Heathrow to Cardiff by Rail:
Both Gatwick and Heathrow have rail links to Cardiff. You can book in advance but this is not the most practical option as you will have to book a seat on a specific train, and if your flight is delayed and you miss that train then you may have to buy new tickets. We therefore advise that you buy your tickets on arrival. Ticket prices range from around £50-£65 depending on the time that you travel (for example, it is more expensive to travel on a Friday), the journey will take approximately three hours. It is possible to travel to Cardiff from both airports via London or via Reading. We advise that you travel via Readings this will involve only one train change.
